Bold Question: What if every child's early years were sparked by play, joy and learning, co-created by those who nurture them?

Pathway to Metis: I’m an educator at heart, deeply passionate about helping children grow into confident, curious learners. With over five years of experience in early childhood education and a background in Community Development, I’ve come to understand how learning thrives when both children and their communities are supported.

I’ve seen how foundational literacy and numeracy are key to unlocking opportunities for children, especially in underserved communities. That’s why, beyond the classroom, I co-founded Elimu Daraja—an initiative dedicated to bridging educational gaps in rural and remote areas. Our work focuses on co-creating contextualized, play-based learning with communities, supporting both teachers and caregivers to create joyful, inclusive learning environments. We’ve already partnered with schools in Samburu and introduced programs like Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) to address learning gaps.

Currently, I’m designing Learning Circles, a flexible, culturally relevant early learning model using play, storytelling, and locally available materials to help children transition into Grade One with the skills they need. This mission is driven by values I hold close; equity, creativity, community, and compassion. I believe real learning happens when children feel seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are.

I believe that through collaboration and innovative approaches, we can ensure every child, no matter where they come from, has access to the education they deserve.
